The family behind Stay with Sol

Fifteen years of Sunset Beach, and counting.

OUR STORY

We started as guests, too.

Our relationship with Sunset Beach goes back fifteen years. We started coming as a couple, kept coming as a family, and eventually did what happens when a place really gets into you — we bought a piece of it.

El Sol came first. We rented, and fell for a house with a private dock, wide-open tidal marsh views and sunsets that still stop us in our tracks. It became the place for beach weeks, coffee on the deck, kids running down the dock, fishing and crabbing, card games around the table and a lot of time together.

Over the years, we’ve also had the privilege of sharing it with other families — including guests who now return year after year.

There are boats docked at a pier or dock in the foreground, and a white railing along the water's edge. Trees and shrubs are visible near the dock, with a residential house partially visible on the left.

THEN CAME SOL MAR

Two stays. Two different ways to do Sunset Beach.

In 2025, we added Sol Mar, a smaller, easygoing condo just four streets away. We wanted it to offer something different: beds made when you arrive, beach towels and gear waiting, bikes ready to go, and the flexibility to come for a long weekend, a full beach week or longer.

El Sol is the house where everyone can spread out and gather around the dock. Sol Mar is the easy, walk-able beach stay where you can drop your bags and settle right in.

Different spaces. Same attention to the details that make a vacation easier.

WHY STAY WITH SOL

There’s always more behind the stay.

After fifteen years of coming to Sunset Beach, we’ve collected a lot more than memories. We have favorite beach accesses, places we always eat, things we do with the kids, and plenty of opinions about what’s actually worth your vacation time.

Stay with Sol is where we share all of that — our two stays, our Sunset Beach favorites and the little things we’ve learned along the way.

And because that same curiosity follows us when we travel beyond Sunset Beach, Behind the Stay is where we share the itineraries, maps and guides we create from our own family trips.
